Astro 28C: Field Astronomy at Big Sur

Oct 12-14, 2001

This section of Astro 28 took us to the Big Sur coastline, where we watched a lunar grazing occultation in the early morning sky from Andrew Molera State Park, watched a beautiful sunrise as we drove back down the coast south to our campsite at Kirk Creek, studied the faults along the coast and beaches, explored the last of the summer Milky Way's clusters, nebulae, and star clouds from the pitch black skies here, and enjoyed campfire talks ranging from solar system formation on out to cosmology and the anthropic principle.
