A Star Party for the Scouts at Hidden Falls Camp - Aug 7, 2008

A few members of the The Santa Cruz Astronomy Club and I treated the girl scout troops staying for the week at Hidden Falls Camp, to a night of astronomy. They learned about the pretty double star Albireo, the stinger of Scorpio, the cloud bands of Jupiter, and how the great dusty lane along the Milky Way was like the cinnamon and poppy seed layer of a Gayle's Bakery bear claw.

The girls wore ghostly glow rings as they hopped from scope to scope, making this spooky time exposure possible

A peeek at Jupiter...

...Olympic rings?...or same little girl's glow rings, just a different artistic take
