Rick Ferrell decided at the last minute to include this race, as it fit well with training and recovery for his Santa Barbara Triathlon 2 weeks later. I didn't sign up, but still jumped in to do the swim and bike, and skipped the run as my psoas was not up to snuff after Donner Lake 3 weeks earlier. It's a low key, fun local race and the course quite familiar. The swim was 2 laps around triangle bouys off shore of the Dream Inn, so you get to climb out of the water during the swim, sprint 20 yards, and jump back in for another lap.... something different.

Getting set, before the swim

The bike course was a hampster cage of circles around West Cliff adding up to the same as a simple out/back to Davenport on Hwy 1, which is what I opted to do so as not to clog the race course

The landmark Whale City Bakery, which I bike out to fairly often, in Davenport

I got back on the bike, stowed it in my car, and then waited for finishers to come in off the run. Ferrell's easy to spot, with his characteristic lean
