Astro 27: Spring '20

Our On-line Adventures for Friday March 20

Normally, Friday night we have our pasta dinner, and immediately congregate around the scopes while I explain the evolution of stars, and we have me, and our telescope operator volunteers, show you binary stars, carbon stars, white dwarfs, planetary nebulae while I lecture. Alas, we're stuck at home. But these video's will help get us started. The background image, (taken by astro clubber Kirk Bender), is of the Orion region as seem from our campground. the big red fuzzy "star" is the Orion nebula as seen by eye, above the hillside. It is the nearest and biggest of the star forming regions in our corner of the Galaxy. We saw images of it in the pre-trip meeting last week, with planetary formation ongoing.
