Ay 8 Start Up for Lab Book
1. In Dell Inspiron, in /occult4/predictions run labmak.exe after you've produced cab13.txt
* Open in /grad/ay8/labook the file occlabf11.doc in MS Word
* open labmak.out in Notepad and copy just the occultation lines and paste into occlabf11.doc
* save the file occlabf11.doc ; that's your lab sheet
2. To get Algol time - Look at c:\grad\labook\algol.out. If you need to go forward in time, alter the do loop in algol.for
3. Look at miravar.out for long period variables to do
4. Read the header in jup.for to see the process for getting jupiter satellite events lab. If it's Fall and you already downloaded the project pluto .htm file, then skip to "run jup.exe". Otherwise...

click on a month in the year of interest. The file you're on will change. Click file | save page as and save the .htm page to your c:\grad\ay8\labook . Check to make sure it is there and the file name
* Modify jup.for for the new daylight savings times and year and file name.

Run jup.exe and it'll produce jup.txt
* Trim jup.txt to include only dates in your semester
* open jupsat.doc in c:\grad\ay8\labook
* open jup.txt in notepad and copy/paste just the satellite events lines into jupsat.doc and save - that's your lab sheet.
5. Check future comets and modify comet.doc if there's an opportunity, then modify c:\grad\labook\comet.doc if there's a new comet to draw
6. Check for asteroid events here.
7. Modify labcov.doc before printing
