My former Cabrillo Astronomy student Hope Forpeace asked me to arrange a venue at Cabrillo College for her to show her documentary film "Blowout - Who's Next?". She produced, wrote, directed, and edited the film, which is narrated by well-known actor James Cromwell, on the fossil fuel industry's cover-up of the damaging effects of fracking on national water supplies, and on the leakage to the atmosphere of natural gas - which is mostly made of methane. I enthusiastically agreed, and arranged for the Erica Schilling Auditorium as venue for us to show the film. I also wanted to put together a Presentation after the film on how methane is affecting climate, how permafrost melt will contribute, and the current state of methane emissions and content in the atmsophere, and projections for the future. The film project came off well. A filming specialist agreed to video record me during my lecture. I've posted it to YouTube.
It was a very full evening! Started at 6:30pm and we didn't finish the discussion until 10:00pm. The event was well attended, with about 50 people from the community.
