Kirk B and I drove up Empire Grade and parked at the gate and walked the 0.6 miles to the 2500 ft summit of Eagle Rock for a panoramic view of all directions, including the NNW where Comet NEOWISE was beneath the bowl of the Big Dipper and to the left of the light dome of Silicon Valley. We were well above the fog, which was supposed to be a marine layer of 2000 ft, but looked more like 1400 ft to start, and rising to maybe 1700 ft by the time we headed home after 11pm
