This occultation is on a wide path covering most of Central California, with Santa Cruz near the centerline and high rank. It's decently high in the sky at 38 degrees altitude in the SSE direction. The drop in magnitude is only 0.4 mag, though, so it will required good signal to noise and therefore the Watec should be set on integration setting of 8x or perhaps even 16x. We're supposed to get offshore flow starting Sunday and maybe it'll persist into Tuesday so we won't have low clouds and fog.
Occult Watcher shows just me and Paul Maley at the moment. But perhaps we can get Karl and Kirk to join? Kirk and I are at virtually the same track, but I'm reluctant to drive far. It's a tough event and I don't get enough sleep as is. Karl's location at home should be able to see the asteroid in that direction, and is decently different as a track.
