This event has an unusual vertical path, going over Santa Cruz, with the Santa Cruz Mtns up in Bonny Doon favored near the centerline. The altitude is 37 degrees; high enough to be reasonably do-able despite the dim magnitude. The event lasts up to 5.7 seconds, which will also help. The drop is to 15.7, which is essentially invisible.

Fog threatened, so I retreated up to Bonny Doon. We had three good recordings from myself at the BD Ecological Reserve, Karl at home, and Ted Swift near Davis. I was on the centerline - and we all had a miss. The full moon was extraordinarily Harvest Moon bright, and smoke in the air made the sky brightness a bit of trouble. There was a narrow range to set the integration so the star was visible but the sky was not overwhelming.

The target (green curve) doesn't show any time of unusual zero readings beyond standard noise. The event time was near the middle of this 4.5 minute long light curve |
