This event goes right through Santa Cruz / Watsonville area. Rank is middling. Karl's on the northern limit with odds of a hit of 45%, Kirk and I are inside the limit with odds of 55%. Skies are not good, as I write this 90 minutes before the event. It's supposed to have a clear band come through, however. Star is in Lynx, 45 degrees up
I recorded through variable cirrus lit by the gibbous moon of this dim star. I could see it most of the time, but for 30 sec on either side of the event time, the clouds got thicker and even the brighter star next to the target - brighter by 2 or 3 magnitudes, was almost gone. So, I got nothing. Kirk recorded as well, and through thinner clouds at the critical moment, got a positive.
