The Occultation of a 13.0 Star by (2163) Korczak

Oct 29, 2022 at 1:52am

This is a decently observable event at 27 degrees altitude, Az=84 in Gemini rising. The event lasts up to 2.3 seconds and is a full drop to ~0 brightness. The field looks OK as far as crowding goes. I will be at the EFI conference in Big Sur and unable to observe, but Karl and Kirk looks ready to go for it

Results:

I was at the EFI conference and did not attempt it. Karl was conducting a class at Lick Observatory on Mt Hamilton and got home too late to set up for it. But Kirk got great data and a solid positive, from the up Hwy 1 at Wilder Ranch's Coast Rd entrance. He recorded at 8x. Brushing against the video cable caused loss of signal and a late start to the recording. The occultation was just after re-acquiring.
