This event is decently bright enough and high enough to do quite do-able. And Santa Cruz is just inside the limit. But the RUWE is 3.95, large. So our odds are probably more like 50% at best, and probably worse. It's clear, dry, the moon will be getting low in the west and the target is in the east, so it's worth a try.
I did set up for this, and it was clear and easy to get at home. The 13.0 star was nicely bright at 8x, in the part of the sky far from the near full moon. I had a clear miss recorded. Kirk was unable to try it, due to work. No word from Karl whether he tried it, yet.
I integrated at 8x, got a good signal. Observed from the driveway at home. A clear miss, as shown below. The IOTA report was sent in 9/28/23. I didn't run it through PyOTE as there seemed no point.
Start 9:16:03UT
end 9:18:35 UT
Kirk and Karl did not attempt this one.
