This event just touches the shoreline north of Santa Cruz. From Scaroni Rd there's almost 50% odds of a 'hit', otherwise you have to go almost to Monterey.

I was the only one to try this; a last second decision to dash up the coast to Scaroni Rd, planning page barely done. After my night class at Cabrillo and dinner and almost ready for bed. I went for it, as it was bright, and my odds were almost 50% of a 1x bright star blink. However, I did get a miss after all. I did set up on Scaroni Road, the closest I could get to the northern limit which was just a few yards off the coast there. Clear skies, very dark, and the star was "whomping bright" even at 1x 1/50s integration. A definite miss.
