The Occultation of a R=12.8 Star by Asteroid Mallorca

May 9, 2024 at 2:18:19am

This path cuts right through SW Santa Cruz, with the centerline on the coastline at Wilder Ranch and the northern limit a mile or so NE of my location. Best odds if I drive to Natural Bridges; I don't have as good a chance at home too because it's 39 alt in the SW, not a good direction for me. Kirk can stay at home OK. The predicted duration is 0.8 seconds, so it should be pretty do-able for high confidence if skies are clear and we get close to the maximum duration.
