The Occultation of a W=14.0 Star by Christine

This is a large asteroid, wide path, high confidence of a hit it would seem. But the target star is dim, only 14.0 magnitude. The combined image will be 13.0. We should integrate at setting 16x or 32x, to get the 0.43 mag drop predicted. Alt=46, az=187 in Libra, just above the triangle top star Alpha Libra, pretty much due south. The duration at maximum is 7.9 seconds, but probably more like 5-6 seconds for Kirk and I, up Empire Grade.

I observed from Sunlit lane, in dry hot conditions. The target star was easy to see at 8x, but I went with 16x since I was looking for a 0.4 mag drop. I could see the drop visually on the external monitor. Not reduced yet, Several seconds long.
