This is a wide path event inclosing all of the Santa Cruz Mtns and south and east SF Bay region. High rank. We have several other observers in the South Bay on board too. The star is faint and the altitude is low, but there's no moon, and the duration is 5.6s so we can use whatever integration is necessary to get an acceptable signal.

I got data from the upper UCSC meadow bike crossing, on the west side. Karl recorded, except the camcorder failed to record. No secondary iPhone video of the monitor for backup, so - no data. Kirk was at the Golden Gate star party and did not attempt.

I drove to the upper meadow UCSC mtn bike crossing, west side, in order to get above any aerosols and also to get the target star over a darker sky, since I knew a high integration would be necessary, given the 17 degree altitude and 13.7 magnitude. I could have gotten it well at 16x, or even 8x perhaps, but the twinkling was so strong that I decided instead to leave it at 32x, where it was visible on all integrations. It continues to be a challenge to judge the proper integration by just watching it on the external monitor. In this case, the histogram for 'no-star' was complete, and this may have aided getting a good reduction. The drop as plotted was quite stronger than any noise fluctuatons. No problem with judging significance, far higher than the 5 sigma bar. I used static circular apertures, 4px in size.
