This is a do-able event, duration 0.9 sec, in a dense Milky Way star field very close to emission nebula IC 1274 and only a couple degrees from the Lagoon Nebula, right of the tip of the Tea Kettle of Sagittarius. Odds are pretty good from home. Alt=21, Az=213 in the SSW, so I'll have to try it from the street. Fog is a danger, and I may have to retreat to the northern limit at Llama Lane in Cave Gulch. If fog goes higher, I may have to skip and focus on the brighter second event which has more observers at 2:30am. The odds for this one look pretty low for Karl, but Kirk and I are on the ~center line at home. The direction is perfect for Kirk from home, if fog holds off.

I was the only one to get data. Kirk got fogged out at home and didn't get up to out of the fog till too late to set up. Karl was outside the path and didn't try

I set up on the little barely detectable two-tire dirt "road" off Llama Lane, in the middle of the clear length on that road. I observed at 8x. Got a recording OK. Llama Ln is extremely quiet, with just 2 or 3 residents, and at this time of night, I expected no traffic. But I had a car drive through my telescope field just 8 seconds before the event. Still, the reductions were marred but not too badly. It's clear the 0.9s event did not happen, and no headlights or other trouble at the predicted event time. The target was bright enough to feel confident it was a miss.
