This is perhaps the brightest event of 2024. The duration is only 0.2s, but that's easy to do for such a bright star, at 1x setting. Similar to my 2019 occultation by Phaeton at Carrizo Plain. The path is through the SC mtns south of Karl but north of the city. My chosen site is the open area meadow north of the Twin Gates bike crossing above upper UCSC.
