This is a faint event and difficult as it's overhead at 75 degrees at event time, and higher before that. You'll have to use the 0.5x reducer method. If you can drive to Willowbrook Park behind Cabrillo Fitness your odds are better, but if you don't trust being able to get on-target in a hurry, then just stay at Hort Hill and hope it shifts a bit north. You're still inside the shadow at Hort Hill. Kirk will try from south side of path.

I tried this from near the corner of the road that connects Soquel Dr at Cabrillo Fitness, and the Hwy 1 frontage road. This event was only 40 minutes after the 2000RT8 event I recorded from Cabrillo Observatory. I streamlined the pack up and re-deploy and if this event had not required the 0.5x set up, I believe I'd have gotten it easily. Instead, the overhead pointing required the  2" diagonal and 0.5x reducer, and with this, I was unable to identify any of the star patterns quickly enough. I'd taken the trouble of downloading my LCD image above and printing it left/right reversed, and used this at the telescope, but still no luck before time ran out. No data. Just at the moment the occultation was scheduled to occur, I heard "Hi", and it was Sandy who arrived. Afterwards, I snapped a photo...

Lesson learned - for overhead 0.5x event, make another chart that corresponds to the 0.5x configuration and make it cover at least 2x as much diameter as usual, so you KNOW it must be in there somewhere, and then crank up the integration and ID the field.
