This event has one good thing going for it - it's long, at 1.2s. That allows deep enough integration to get a solid positive, if skies are clear. As I write this, weather looks iffy, and if it's too iffy I'll not make the travel to get into the path, in favor of later events where the clear sky odds are better.
I've set a site at Twin Gates, upper UCSC. But probably better if there's no fog, is Mountain Elementary School a half mile south of Castelegno's. That should give me enough time to quickly pack up and drive to "The Farm" park, or if time, to Cabrillo Observatory for the next event at 7:51pm. A tough 13.5 star 0.5s duration 1997AU12
Alt=58, Az=86 rising in the east in Gemini, just above right of Castor.

I set up at BlueBall Park in Soquel, at the top of the parking lots on the SW side of the park. It's actually quite a nice place for doing asteroid events. Wide sky, no street lights. I had to use 16x to see the target well enough. I did not see any event, likely a miss, but will have to review to be sure. I'd wanted to be at Mountain School, but traffic snarls slowed me down and I did not have time to drive up Old SJ Rd to the school.
Observed and recorded from "the Berm".
No word yet, but he did plan to set up, and then skip the rest of the events tonight as too far south to be worth it.
