This is a very tough event, probably not worth trying except that we'll already be set up for the better 2 events that happen over the next hour. I'm planning on setting up at the pasture on the west side of Empire Grade at the UCSC Arboretum. The path is quite similar to the next two events, and is only visible from Santa Cruz and the north coast and southern miles of Empire Grade. It misses Karl. The centerline is just off shore NW of Santa Cruz, but UCSC is decently inside the path. Misses Bernard but not by much and if he's got the horizon, his 10" would be good. The one good thing is the duration, which is 1.6s. Combined magnitude is 13.7, so with clean skies and long integration it might be get-able. Getting on target will be a challenge with the altitude even lower than the event altitude of 13 degrees.

No apparent event for Komaki, 16x at the BD Eco reserve. This was the first of three events that night, May 8th. Maybe undetectable with the faint target, short magnitude drop, and 90% moon 35 deg. from target. Max predicted duration was 1.6s at 0.8m drop. PyOTE detectability tool reported an event as short as 3.5s would be detectable.
