This bright star event should be done at 1x, and also lower the gain to avoid saturation. The path goes through lower Cienega valley,

Results:

We got the college van to try these 3 asteroid occultations all from new Paicines and Tres Pinos. This was the brightest by far. Mag 8.3 But the rank wasn't great, and the path was narrow. We got 2 misses and a 'no data'. Kirk and I both set up on Hwy 25 near the south end of the broad valley before it winds uphill going south. Kirk and I got a clear miss. Sandy has equipment trouble

I set up at a ranch entrance as indicated in the Ulrike page. Had to use the camcorder, instead of the Startec method, as connection and unanticipated software behavior ruined the Ulrike event and I made a quick re-plan with plugging in the camcorder. Fortunately, the blind "Go To" by the 8SE put it right on target. I set the gain=27 down from the usual 41, and at 1x. Still, the target star was quite bright.  I watched on the monitor and no event was seen.

Kirk Bender

Recorded as per usual with his gear. A clear miss.

Sandy Astone

Drift of the 8SE and his narrower FOV with the f/6.3 reducer,  caused him to be off-target during the critical time. No data.
