This event is just 50 minutes after another event well seen from Karl's - Analucia. My preliminary suggestion is to have an evening at Karl's and get both from his place. Luscinia is visible, however, from all of Santa Cruz County. But Analucia is only visible from Karl's and north, and Pigeon Point (where Kirk will be).

Kirk and I carpooled up Hwy 17. He set up on Laurel Rd, and set up below the Red Realty place. We both got a few seconds of an occultation. Karl had the star sink into the redwood trees and got no data.
I observed from the open field right below the old red restaurant at the "Red Realty" sign on Hwy 17. Same long/lat as for Analucia earlier this same evening. No moon and looking out over dark skies, it was not easy to see any aerosols but they are perhaps there on the light curves below. Deep enough to make problematic the dip before the actual occultation, and the longer one near the end of the recording. I will await Kirk's light curves from Laurel Rd before deciding if there's any other work to be done, but the actual occultation moments were not bothered by cloud or aerosol.

However, I see a dark bar across the middle of my chip field, and especially near the top of this bar, brightnesses of all objects are cut down. This caused the spurious drops in brightness, and probably not aerosol/clouds. I'm re-doing the analysis and this time using the ref star very close to the target and almost level with it, to try to minimize the differential drop in brightness by this chip problem.

The NIE test is actually worse now. The ref star close to the target is fainter than the original ref1 star, and trying to get the ref star and target to do the artificial dips at the same time didn't work as well as hoped. Minimizing the metric still left the smoothed curve not really capturing the short ~2s drops as tracking moved stars across the dark bar. Timing acccuracies are worse below, but the timings and duration is the same. In both cases, I set the D and R intervals rather than letting it search all over the entire light curve.
I will use the first set of timings/acc above to report, rather than these below...

I got a 3.4s event for Luscinia, 16x from Laurel road. Like Karl, it was close to a tree, I might have lost it had the event been 10-15min later, but it was clear to the end of my recording.
