The Occultation of a W=12.5 Star by Asteroid 1999 TC37

This event misses Santa Cruz, but the north coast is barely inside the 1-sigma range. It's not a likely positive. However, I may be at Cabrillo Observatory this night and it would be a good test of how well I can move the 12" to this spot and get an event, so I'll make a planning charts page here.

Alt=56, Az=180 in Pisces, close to 13.5 mag IC 121 galaxy

Below is the 8SE charts...

Results:

Bernard and I spent the evening working at the Observatory, and I brough the 8SE gear to try the asteroid event but had hoped to be able to use the 12" in the dome for it.

However, I underestimated all the problems to solve before the 12" would be useable for asteroid events. Instead I got a recording from outside the dome with the 8SE gear.  Recorded at 4x. Bright sky, with thin scattered cirrus and 70% moon nearby. Very cold. Light curve most consistent with a  miss. At 4x, a 0.5s event should take 6 integrations inside the occultation drop to ~0. There appear to be drops near the event time.

Looks like a miss for 1999 TC37, Nov. 29, 4x at home, no apparent event. I was north of the 1-sigma, and not good rank, so not unexpected, I think I only tried it because you were going to use it to test the 12" at the observatory.
