The main page for this fast-paced mid-week adventure is here. I thought I'd keep the science part separate from the other lure to go for this rather low'ish probability but high value occultation event, was the chance to be in the Eastern Sierra with the aspen and snowy mountains to photograph once again. It's been too long since I was part of the Dave Wyman photo trips for this. Oct 23 roughly is the prime time for the best colors, although one could argue with global warming that might be a few days later. Oct 20 turned out to be yes, a tad early for all the green to turn to golden and reds, but it was still quite beautiful!
I had Kirk Bender with me, also a very good photographer, and we shared the post-occultation adventure together...

Kirk, and Silver Lake |
There's a dense, stunning grove of aspen above Silver Lake. It's a favorite spot for visitors and photographers. |
This duck has learned that people are a source of bread crumbs... good thing he's not met a hunter, yet. |
