Dec 19 Thur - Occultation of a 6.0 Star from Bodfish near Lake Isabella. 2am. Very inconvenient, but darn bright.
Dec 22 Sun morn 12:12:00am - Occultation of a 9.4 star by the PHA (Potentially Hazardous Asteroid) Phaethon, from Willowdale Oregon. High rank and value. Dur=0.3s. 1215 miles round trip, 11 hrs one way. A full weekend for sure. But, weather likely cloudy and it's during winter break so I can't argue it'll be for in-course student projects. I think I'll have to let this one pass. My personal car is not trustworthy enough for this long trip into winter Oregon.
