Sep 9 Wed 4am- Occultation of a G=12.9 mag stary by GaiaMoons (21712) Obaid , from north SC County. Small asteroid. max dur 0.2s for primary, maybe 0.1 for moonlet. Looks very tough.
Sept 11,12,13 - GraniteMan Challenge. Only the bike is official. Swim and Run are solo this year.
Sept 14 -Mon eve 9:40pm - Occultation of a W=12.8 Star for 20s by Aspasia - for all of Santa Cruz and Bay Area. 40m after my Astro 3-2 lets out, so I will plan to get it from Cabrillo outside my classroom. 6 stations already on OWd. Good moon-hunting candidate, and confirmation from the other chords. Planning page.
Sept 15 - Tue eve 10:00pm - Occultation of a W=12.7 Star for 20s by Aspasia - for Bay Area down to Los Gatos, but it only has to shift less than 10% of its diameter to give an occultation for Santa Cruz / Aptos. I have to teach till 10pm at the Observatory so I will plan to record it from there. Planning page.
